Africa Reed to Synthetic

Explore replacing African Cape Reed tiles with a suitable synthetic roof system while retaining an existing gazebo where its structure allows.

Synthetic Africa Bali Thatch Gazebo

Brisbane Thatch & Decks provides synthetic Bali thatch upgrades for African Cape Reed gazebos.

African Cape Reed gazebos eventually need re-thatching as the natural roof ages. Some owners choose replacement reed tiles, while others prefer the appearance and lower maintenance of synthetic Balinese-style tiles.

If you would like to change the look of your existing African Cape Reed gazebo, replacing the roof covering with a suitable synthetic tile system can create a Balinese-style finish while retaining a compatible frame.

Synthetic Bali Thatch

Synthetic or fibre Bali thatch tiles offer an alternative upgrade for African Cape Reed gazebos. They recreate the tropical appearance of Balinese thatch for garden seating areas, pools and outdoor entertaining spaces.

The synthetic tiles described in this system use a UV-resistant polyurethane material. They avoid the natural grass shedding associated with traditional thatch and offer a different approach to ongoing roof care.

We will confirm the proposed product, suitability for your frame, care requirements and current warranty information with your quote. The appearance and finish underneath are worth considering alongside the outside view.

The synthetic fibre tiles in this conversion system are designed to clip onto the steel rings of a compatible African Cape Reed frame. Their reinforced backing and plastic clips attach to suitable 6–8 mm steel rods.

Fitting this system to a timber Bali hut frame requires suitable steel rods and a separate assessment. It is not our standard re-thatching method for timber huts, and the extra frame work can increase the cost.

This synthetic fibre thatch system is primarily designed for shade and is not waterproof. Some light can be visible through the roof.
