Brisbane Thatch & Decks · Since 1995
From our beginnings as Oz-Thatch subcontractors to custom Bali huts and outdoor spaces across Australia, we keep learning, refining our methods and putting our clients first.
We offer long-lasting Bali huts at competitive prices, with installation and thatching techniques refined since 1995.
We provide a 5-year installation and workmanship warranty and a 20-year frame warranty.
Alang-Alang thatch is a natural wild product and carries a 5-year guarantee, excluding external factors. There is no warranty on African Cape Reed tiles.
Our experience dates back to 1995, when we started as subcontractors for Oz-Thatch. We have continued to refine our installation methods and improve our work ever since.
We use export-quality Alang-Alang thatch, galvanised fasteners and CCA-treated timber for our Bali hut frames and Koppers log posts. Our handmade crowns and finials are carefully crafted for the longevity of each hut.
Brisbane Thatch & Decks is QBCC licensed. We install our Bali huts to council standards and regulations, and can also help put your Bali hut through the council approval process.

We custom-build Balinese thatched huts and DIY kits to suit your space, budget and requirements, from a garden retreat to shade beside the pool. We supply and freight custom-built huts and kits throughout Australia.
Choose from a variety of post sizes and types, with frames stained in Modern Black, Classic Ironbark or another available colour. Our huts use quality thatch, galvanised fasteners and CCA-treated timber.

A difficult space or an unusual idea deserves a design of its own. We create huts and roof extensions in different shapes and sizes, beyond standard square and rectangular designs.
For a distinctive focal point, ask about our Cascade Bali huts. We work with your ideas to design a structure around the way you want to use your outdoor space.

Our rustic, freestanding Bali hut daybeds offer a compact place to relax in the garden or beside the pool. Choose a standard size or a custom design, shape and size.
Frames use CCA-treated timber and can be stained in Ironbark, Black, Teak, Red Cedar or another available colour to suit your garden.

Our garden swing sofas suit smaller blocks, poolside spaces and garden focal points. Swing chairs can also be fitted to an existing Bali hut.
Choose a standard size or a custom Bali hut swing set or pergola-style swing chair. We use CCA-treated timber and offer Ironbark and other available stain colours.

A permanent Bali hut umbrella brings natural shade and a tropical feel to your garden or pool area. We custom-build sizes to suit your space, with natural thatch providing insulation from the heat of the sun.

We distribute and install Smart Thatch in South East Queensland as an alternative to natural Alang-Alang thatch, including for maintenance and re-thatching projects.
Smart Thatch is a waterproof synthetic option that does not shed natural thatch debris. Clients have also reported fewer problems with birds and wildlife nesting in their huts.
The manufacturer claims a lifespan of more than 50 years and reports 25 years of testing with only slight colour loss in full sun. This is a manufacturer claim, separate from our installation warranty. Ask us about its suitability for your roof.

African Cape Reed gazebos are typically round or oval, with Koppers log posts and a steel frame. Their clean lines make them a practical shade feature for gardens and poolside spaces.
We specialise in re-thatching these gazebos with custom-made African Cape Reed tiles or synthetic Balinese-style tiles that resemble Alang-Alang thatch. African Cape Reed tiles do not carry a warranty.

Our synthetic thatch umbrellas combine CCA-treated posts and timber frames with steel rings that support synthetic Balinese thatch tiles.
An optional custom height-adjustable table creates a place for a standing drink or a seated breakfast, making these umbrellas a simple outdoor entertaining feature.

Tram-wood shingles offer a natural roofing alternative with a rustic, handmade appearance. They can suit a wide range of roof shapes and sizes. Shingles are our most expensive roofing option because installation is particularly labour-intensive and time-consuming.

Koppers log posts are our usual choice for Balinese huts. As the timber dries, cracks can develop; this is something to discuss when choosing the finish and appearance of your hut.
For an alternative, we can supply laminated Kwila/Merbau posts. These are installed on galvanised metal brackets and cost more than Koppers logs. We can talk you through the available options for your project.

We specialise in low-set timber decks up to one metre high, connecting indoor living with the outdoors. A deck can complement a Bali hut and help make sloping ground more useful. Custom-fitted handrails can be included for safety and appearance.

Our comprehensive service covers Bali hut roof re-thatching, maintenance and repairs. We use quality thatch, galvanised fasteners and treated timber, with post and stain options to suit your existing structure. We also carry out repairs for several insurance companies; ask for Brisbane Thatch & Decks when discussing your repair.
