Africa Hut Dimensions

Measure a round or oval African Cape Reed gazebo for re-thatching, repairs or maintenance, with clear diagrams showing the frame dimensions and steel rings we need.

African gazebo measurements for a fast, accurate quote

Use this guide when asking Brisbane Thatch & Decks to re-thatch, repair or maintain an African Cape Reed gazebo. The correct frame measurements and clear photographs help us identify the structure, assess its condition and prepare a useful preliminary estimate.

  1. Measure the steel frame

Measure to the outer steel ring, flat steel bar or kicker plate. Do not include the overhanging ends of the reed tiles.

  2. Count the round rings

Count the 8 mm round steel rings inside the frame. Do not count the first outer flat bar or the ridge.

  3. Photograph every view

Send close and wide exterior photos plus a clear view from underneath so we can see the roof shape, steel rings and condition.

Round structures

Provide the diameter, marked X in the diagram. Measure from one side of the outer steel ring, flat steel bar or kicker plate to the opposite side.

Measure the frame, not the dashed red line. The dashed line represents the ends of the thatch tiles and is larger than the frame diameter.

Count the 8 mm round steel rings inside the outer bar. In the example there are three. Please do not count the first outer flat bar.

Send the diameter with its unit, the ring count, and exterior and underside photos. These details help us calculate the Cape Reed tiles needed for the roof.

Oval structures

Oval African Cape Reed gazebos

Oval frames need two dimensions: X for the overall frame length and Y for the frame diameter. Measure both at the outer steel ring or kicker plate.

You can also measure X along the bottom of the frame. Again, exclude the dashed red thatch overhang from both dimensions.

Count only the 8 mm round bars that run around the frame. Do not count the ridge or the first outer flat bar. The illustrated example has three internal rings.

Include wide and close exterior photos and an underside photo showing the whole steel frame. This lets us confirm the ring layout before preparing the quote.

Photo examples to include

Show the entire African gazebo from outside and the structure beneath the roof. Photos should make the frame shape, roof edge, supports and internal rings easy to see.
